Dr du Sautoy works with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by providing personalized, neurodiversity-affirming therapies aimed at building life skills, managing emotional regulation, and improving mental health. Rather than trying to “cure” autism, Dr du Sautoy focus is on helping individuals navigate a neurotypical world while embracing their unique cognitive processing.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy

Dr du Sautoy prioritizes autism-affirming practices.

We recognize that autistic traits are natural variations of the brain rather than deficits.

We avoid trying to mask or suppress autistic behaviours (such as stimming), focusing instead on building healthy coping mechanisms and self-advocacy.

Lastly, we treat co-occurring mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and OCD

Utilising CBT and integrate Compassion Focus Therapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.

Tailored Interventions and Strategies

Depending on the specific needs of the individual, utilise utilize several other evidence-based and clinical methods:

Emotional Regulation Support: Helping individuals develop strategies to manage sensory overload, meltdowns, and intense feelings like anger or anxiety via Dialectical Behavioural therapy.

Social and Life Skills Coaching: Providing practical coaching on navigating social interactions, handling workplace relationships, and dealing with life transitions or routine changes via Cognitive Behavioural therapy for Social anxiety.

Social Narratives & Visual Tools: Often used with teenagers to practice new skills, prepare for upcoming routine changes, and understand social cues safely.

Dr du Sautoy works with the autistic individual within their context. This approach frequently involves the wider system:

Parent Coaching: Equipping parents with strategies to positively reinforce desired behaviours, structure the home environment, and manage their own stress.

Reasonable Adjustments in Therapy

To make sessions accessible and low-stress, Dr du Sautoy makes flexible accommodations, such as: Modifying the physical environment (lowering lighting, removing clutter, or allowing clients to wait in their outside instead of a waiting room).

Dr du Sautoy Provides clear agendas and expectations in writing before the session starts.

And lastly, allows alternative communication methods during sessions, like typing or writing notes if verbal processing is overwhelming.
